Learnathon

Online

This free online learnathon is a mix between a hackathon and a workshop. It's like a workshop because we'll learn more about the data science cycle: data access, data blending, data preparation, model training, optimization, testing, and deployment. It's like a hackathon because we'll work in groups to hack a workflow-based solution to guided exercises.

The tool of choice is the open-source, GUI-driven KNIME Analytics Platform. Because KNIME is open, it offers great integrations with an IDE environment for R, Python; SQL, and Spark.

Agenda & groups/breakout rooms

We'll start with an introduction to KNIME Analytics Platform, followed by a short presentation about the data science cycle.

After this presentation we split into three groups. Each group focuses on one of the three aspects of the data science cycle.

Three zoom breakout rooms will be activated for this purpose. You go into the room for the group you sign up for (below) to attend the specific tutorial and exercises.

There will be a KNIME data scientist in each breakout room to help you while you work on the exercises.

Choose which group (Group 1, 2, or 3) you want to join on the zoom registration page.

  • Group 1 - Working on the raw data. Data access and data preparation.
  • Group 2 - Machine Learning. Which model shall I use? Which parameters?
  • Group 3 - I have a great model. Now what? The model deployment phase.

Automating hazard Information Extraction from Safety Data SheetsSinaHTue, 10/27/2020 - 13:30
Webinar
-
.
Online

This webinar will be hosted by our partner S-IN Soluzioni Informatiche.

Find out how to automate the extraction of hazard information from thousands of Safety Data Sheets (SDS). We’ll show you how you can remove the need for manual work by automatically gathering and harmonizing text-based information. Using text mining and string manipulation in KNIME Analytics Platform, the recovery of risk phrases, which is requested by Regulators, is ensured.

What are SDS?

Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are standardized documents chemical manufacturers use to communicate chemical hazard information to chemical handlers. They typically contain chemical properties, health and environmental hazards, protective measures, as well as safety precautions for storing, handling, and transporting chemicals.
Chemical handlers extract information from SDS by reading the section of interest. Such a manual process is not effective when the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) manager needs to gather hazard information about all chemicals used in the company to develop an adequate risk management plan.

Regulators are pushing companies to harmonize and gather this information and make it available to anyone who works with chemical substances, such as synthetic or analytical chemists.

Visual Workflows for Data Science Teaching - EUROPE / ASIA

Most higher education data analytics courses nowadays cover at least a bit of data science: data acquisition, data transformation, data cleaning, and standardization, data blending, data visualization; some machine learning, some statistics, or all of the above.

KNIME Analytics Platform is an excellent tool for such courses: It is free (and open-source) and its visual workflow approach is very easy to grasp and intuitive to apply. With its extensive collection of operations and machine learning algorithms, however, you will rarely lack functionality which is further made unlikely by integrations with popular data science tools like Python and R.

With the spread of KNIME Software in the industry, more and more companies are looking for graduates with KNIME experience for positions in data engineering, data analysis, business analytics, and data science. Therefore, proven expertise in KNIME Software (through certification) helps graduates on the job market.

In this webinar, we want to show you how we can support you in the adoption of KNIME Analytics Platform in the classroom.

Creating Data Science with KNIME #1

This webinar will be hosted by our partner ITZONE.
The first part of the webinar will be held by Vincenzo Tursi (KNIME) in English, the second part will be covered by our partner ITZONE and held in Mongolian.

Developing Machine Learning models is always considered very challenging. Not only is a deep understanding of ML algorithms and the consequences for the corresponding system required, the developer also needs expertise in command-driven development. The introduction of KNIME Software has brought the development of Machine Learning models into the purview of the common man.

During the webinar we will introduce you to KNIME Analytics Platform, a modern, visual data analysis environment that allows for code-free creation of advanced analytics, empowering more casual users. It offers an extremely wide range of data sources, tools, and methods - many based on leading open source projects - all within one platform.
Based on the example of a churn prediction, we will investigate the prediction techniques, the underlying logic and prerequisites, as well as performances. We’ll have time to answer your questions, too!

KNIME Certification Program measures your expertise with different concepts of KNIME Software as well as current data science skills.

You can take four different examinations (L1 to L4) online at any time during the day of the event. Each examination takes no more than 45 minutes with 15 questions about the topics that are listed in the FAQ (see below) under "Which examination is right for you?".

Important: Levels within KNIME Certification Program are consecutive, i.e., you can only take the L2 examination once you have passed the L1. This is currently not reflected in the ordering process, so please make sure to order the right tickets for your next level within KNIME Certification Program.

Once you have registered for the event, you will get an order confirmation from Eventbrite which does not yet contain instructions on how to take your exam. On the day of the examination, i.e. around 0:01 (UTC +1), you will receive an additional email from certification@knime.com that contains instructions on how to access your examination through a browser. Since follow-up emails will come from this address as well, please make sure to mark it as trusted, for example, by adding the address to your address book.
